Job Summary
Responsible for managing, coordinating and serving nutritious and cost-effective food program within CACFP (Child & Adult Care Food Program-USDA) requirements.

Essential Functions
Food Preparation and Planning:

  • Order food supplies in a timely and cost effective manner
  • Prepare, handle and serve nutritious breakfast, lunch and snacks daily in accordance with requirements for food and beverage establishments.
  • Plan and prepare for others to prepare food in your absence.
  • When possible accommodate special requests from classrooms that enhance their work with the children.
Compliance to CACFP:
  • Assure that menus, quantities served and procedures meet CACFP requirements.
  • Maintain accurate daily records of quantities of food prepared and number of children and adults eating meals in accordance with CACFP requirements.
Kitchen, Equipment and Utensils, and Storage:
  • Ensure that dishes, utensils, equipment, kitchen and food storage areas are cleaned and sanitized in accordance with requirements for food and beverage establishments.
  • Ensure that food site meets safety and health requirements; implement emergency procedures.
  • Maintain clean and organized food storage area.
  • Implement emergency procedures.

Qualifications:

Required:

  • High School Diploma
  • At least one year of experience in quantity meal planning and preparation
  • Minimum of one year related experience or equivalent combination of education and experience
  • Demonstrated ability to work with diverse styles, cultures and perspectives
  • Strong ability to productively resolve conflict
  • Demonstrated ability to prioritize work and meet multiple deadlines simultaneously
  • Excellent organization skills
  • Strong attention to detail
  • Must successfully Complete Food Manager Certification training within 6 months of hire

Preferred:

  • Current First Aid and CPR certifications
  • Strong understanding of nutritional and whole foods basics and USDA food program requirements
  • Experience in cost effective food purchasing preferred

Physical Demands:
While performing the duties of this job, the employee is regularly required to talk or hear, stand, walk, sit, use hands to fingers, handle or feel, reach with hands and arms, stoop, kneel, crouch, or crawl. The employee frequently is required to climb or balance and taste or smell. The employee must regularly lift and/or move up to 50 pounds. Specific vision abilities required by this job include close vision, distance vision, color vision, peripheral vision, depth perception and ability to adjust focus.
