Job Summary
Under the guidance and assistance of the Asian Youth Program (AYP) Coordinator, this position is responsible for implementing the YWCA's Asian Life
Lessons Teaching Helping Advocating Team (ALL THAT), an initiative at the middle school level in Minneapolis. This position will teach, mentor, and
encourage youth to use alternative methods of conflict resolution, to make healthy choices about their social and academic development, and to
improve family support and cultural appreciation.
Qualifications:
Required:
- Demonstrate cultural competence
- Must be bilingual in Hmong and/or Lao
- Knowledge of immigrant, refugee, and youth issues
- Good human relationships skills
- Strong organizational, written, and communication skills.
- Exhibit initiative, able to work independently under minimal supervision and able to meet desired goals and deadlines.
- Genuine commitment and interest in supporting the positive development of young people.
- Ability to build relationships and collaborate with a variety of community partners.
- Strong customer focus. ability to relate well to the public, in person and on the telephone.
- Ability to work in a fast-paced team environment.
- Able to work effectively with multiple supervisors, balance and prioritize multiple requests.
- Demonstrates proficient skills in database management and MS Office products (MS Word, MS Excel) required.
- Commitment to and ability to articulate the YWCA mission: To Empower Women and Girls and Eliminate Racism
- Valid driver's license, minimum 4 years driving experience, and ability to drive 12-15 passenger van
Preferred:
- Possess current CPR and First Aid certification or ability to obtain within three months of hire.
- Experience organizing large-scaled events.
Physical Demands:
- The employee must occasionally lift and/or move up to 50 pounds.
