2010 YWCA Women's Triathlon

Event Details:
Sunday, August 15, 2010
New Location: Minneapolis*
Visit ywcawomenstri.org for more info or Register now!

*Please note: The race venue will be Lake Nokomis (not Lake Calhoun as originally planned). While many in Minneapolis were eager to see the race at Calhoun, traffic and other logistics proved too difficult. We thank the Minneapolis Park Board for looking so extensively into the option. Onward to Lake Nokomis which is a terrific venue with proven course options. We remain thrilled to bring the race home to Minneapolis. Join us on Minneapolis' beautiful lakes, parkways and river road!

The triathlon and training events are designed to support and empower women of all ages and athletic abilities to accomplish their personal goals. Proceeds from the triathlon benefit the YWCA Strong Fast Fit program, empowering Latino and Native American youth and their families to lead healthier, more active lifestyles to prevent obesity and diabetes.

Congratulations top finishers!
Congratulations to the overall top finishers in the 2009 YWCA Women's Triathlon - Lydia Novotny (First Place), Suzie Finger (Second Place) and Greta Simpson (Third Place).

Early Childhood Education Awareness Month

On Friday, January 15th, nearly 300 children, teachers, parents and advocates marched in support of early childhood education awareness month at the YWCA of Minneapolis.

YWCA president and CEO Becky Roloff began the event:

Parents just want a quality education for their children, and we don't deny parents education for their children if their child is a fourth grader. But if that child is 3 or 4 years old, and their parent cannot afford it, they do not have access to quality early childhood education. We want this state to remain great, and for every child to have the opportunity to succeed with their education."

YWCA children and staff march on Nicollet Mall to bring awareness to Early Childhood Education.
