Massage Options

Swedish Massage
This relaxation massage uses long strokes and firm pressure to relieve stress on outer-layer muscles and joints.

Deep tissue massage
This massage uses slow strokes and deep finger pressure to relieve chronic stress from deep within the body.

Sports massage
This type of massage targets muscles used to perform repetitive activity. Athletes in particular find it beneficial before or after an event, and to facilitate rehabilitation after an injury.

Pregnancy and Infant Massage

Pre- and Perinatal Massage
Pre- and Perinatal Massage can provide general relaxation and stress relief as well as relief from some of the most common discomforts of pregnancy. Massage during pregnancy and labor has also been shown to help decrease obstetric complications, lower prematurity rates, shorter labor and hospital stays and decreased depression following birth. Perinatal massage has been found to reduce pain while facilitating relaxation, energy conservation and regeneration. Massage after labor can also help address the physiological, emotional, and structural challenges of the immediate and long-term postpartum period which can sometimes result in feelings of negative self esteem and body image.

Infant Massage Classes
These classes are designed for new parents, expecting parents or primary caregivers and are taught by Certified Infant Massage Instructors (CIMI®). Parents are taught massage techniques that will help sooth and comfort their infants, enhance the bond between parent and child and promote overall wellness. Each session is $40 for members, and $50 for non-members.

There are no summer infant massage classes. Look for classes again in September, 2010. For more information on Infant Massage classes, private sessions or to schedule a group sessions at your site call 612-215-4220 or e-mail Patricia .
