YWCA Meltdown 2! A Fitness Challenge

April 5 - May 16

As the Meltdown comes to a close, keep your momentum going by signing up for Meltdown 2! The Meltdown 2 is the same as the Meltdown, but without clinics. Meltdown 1 got you started, Meltdown 2 will make your healthy habits routine!

Missed the first Meltdown? You can still take advantage of Meltdown 2! In this six week weight management and fitness competition, teams of two compete against other teams and get points for exercise, keeping a food log, body composition changes (losing fat and gaining muscle) and waist reduction, and achieving 5 point opportunities such as complete an Ironperson over 6 weeks or design your own workout and follow for one week.

Step 1: Registration

  • Registration is now open through April 7
  • $70 per person, $135 for teams of two.
  • To register, bring the completed registration form and payment to your local YWCA membership desk. (Look for downloadable form here soon!)

Step 2: Meltdown and gain points from April 5- May 16.

Participants will be able to earn points from improved body composition, time spent exercising and clinic participation. In addition, participants will be able to earn points by completing a daily food log.

  1. Exercise points
    Logs collected and calculated the Tuesday (12pm) after each completed week
    • 1 point = .5 hr of exercise (e.g. walking/running, strength training, fitness classes, basketball, skiing)
    • Max. of 4 points per day
    • Max. of 12 points per week
    • Half of all weekly points can come from exercise outside the club
  2. Daily Food log
    Sheets collected and calculated the Tuesday (12:00 pm) after each completed week.
    • 1 point for each daily log completed
    • 7 points per week
  3. 5 point opportunities
    • Participate in Aqua fitness class Downtown
    • Participate in Spring Indoor Triathlon April 18 at the y as participant or volunteer
    • Design an Ideal workout for yourself and follow for one week
    • Accumulate exercise points to complete a half or full Ironman Triathlon in your workouts
    • Accumulate 5 days of 10,000 steps over the six weeks
    • Participate in a running, walking or biking event during this time period.
  4. Improved body composition & circumference reduction at weigh out
    • 1 point = 1 lb. of fat lost
    • 1 point = ½ lb. of muscle gain
    • Max. earnable weight loss points = 12 (2 lbs./week)
    • 1 point = 1 inch reduction in waist
    Absolutely no late weigh outs.

Step 3: Weigh out between May 16 and May 19

Weigh outs will be on a drop-in basis with a trainer using the Inbody Biospace Body Composition Analysis. Schedules will be posted on-site. No late weigh outs allowed. Early weigh outs may be accommodated. Winners from Meltdown 2 will be announced on May 24 and prizes awarded thereafter.

Prizes

Teams at Midtown will compete against each other and teams at Uptown and Downtown will compete against each other.

  • First Place Team Prize: $150 per person
  • Second Place Team Prize: $$75 per person
  • Third Place Team Prize: $$50 per person

All Meltdown participants who score a "perfect week" (12 exercise points & 7 food log points) will be eligible for a weekly $25 drawing!
