14th Annual Circle of Women
Purses & Passion: The Premiere Minneapolis Fundraising Luncheon and Purse Auction

The 14th Annual Circle of Women was held on May 6, 2010. We wish to thank all our supporters, sponsors and volunteers who made this event a tremendous success!

One highlight of the event was the following video showcasing children and youth from 4 to 18 years old. Listen to their amazing stories - in their own words! Their stories are sure to brighten your day. We should know, since we're privileged to work with them every day!

Thank you Steve Niedorf for creating this video! See this and Steve's other videos on Vimeo.

Event Recap

The Circle of Women fundraiser luncheon is an inspirational opportunity to support life-changing programs in the community, empowering women and girls in profound ways.

This year, over 1,300 people, 90% of them women, come together to network, "shop" the silent auction for a fabulous new bag, and be inspired by the stories of the girls and women whose lives are changed by the YWCA every day.

About the Program

There is something powerful about coming together to listen to those whose voices aren't always heard - the participants of the life changing programs of the YWCA of Minneapolis. During the Circle of Women program, girls and women whose lives have been changed in small and profound ways share their stories with attendees.

Voices at Circle of Women 2010

Paige, YWCA Girls & Youth participant:

"I felt like for once in my life there was an adult who was for real and concerned about me and cared about my feelings. Not only did I find an adult who I really trust at the YWCA, I learned about safe. I learned how to make better choices for myself and how those positive choices will affect my future and my attitude towards life."

Alexis, YWCA Children's Center parent:

"For my family, the YWCA has become a second home. A community that serves as a never-ending reminder that we all have endless potential. My younger children are ready and able to achieve academically and each of my children are more prepared to thrive in a diverse world because of their education here."
