Other Ways to Donate

As a non-profit organization, the YWCA depends on gifts from individuals, corporations and foundations to touch the lives of thousands of individuals each year. All gifts to the YWCA of Minneapolis are tax deductible. Outlined below are some ways that you can contribute and help us meet even more community needs.

Corporate Friends

The YWCA benefits from several companies that give a portion of their sales to YWCA of Minneapolis programs. Some of these businesses include:

Donations of Products

By donating quality products you improve lives in the community we live in. Product donations reduce the YWCA’s overall expenses and help us spend more funds on our children and families in need.

Items needed on an ongoing basis include:

• Gift cards to Target or Michaels
• Old board games/cards
• Sewing materials
• Art supplies of all varieties (paper, paint, markers, glues, scrapping supplies, glitter, tag board, pipe cleaners, magazines with child friendly pics, yarn, starch, buttons, stickers, child size scissors, blank or lined paper, etc.)
• Electric pencil sharpener
• Infant/Child pants and shorts
• Swim suits and towels for swimming
• Diapers and bibs
• Toys: kites, balls and toy cars

Donations of Stock

Gifts of securities which have gone up in value since their purchase can provide additional benefits:

• You receive a charitable income tax deduction equal to the fair market value of the securities if they have been held longer than one year;
• You avoid capital gains tax.

Gifts in Memory or in Honor of a Loved One

There are many times when you want to say something special to a family member, friend or associate. A gift to the YWCA of Minneapolis in honor or memory of a special person will help us empower women and girls while giving you a unique opportunity to commemorate a birthday, anniversary, wedding, holiday, retirement, graduation, or the loss of a loved one. Your thoughtfulness will be acknowledged immediately to the person or family your are honoring.

Planned Giving

Planned gifts and bequests are charitable contributions and, as such, result in tax and financial benefits to the donor. The extent of your benefits will depend on the manner in which your gift is made.

Workplace Giving

Many workplaces today offer the opportunity to make a donation to the YWCA of Minneapolis through a simple payroll deduction. If your workplace is involved in the United Way or Combined Federal Campaigns, you can specify the YWCA of Minneapolis as the recipient of your support.
