Understanding Privilege Workshops

Privilege: Purchasing items colored "nude" or "flesh", and have them match your skin.

The Understanding Privilege workshop aims to educate participants on the basic principles of white privilege in America. This workshop will allow you to uncover this invisible system of privilege, and help you articulate your role in the goal of eliminating racial disparities.

In this workshop, people move towards a more effective approach to privilege and racism issues: responsibility. There will be a focus on dialogue in various settings - small group and large group. Information and stories will be shared and discussed, and understanding will increase. A commitment to action will be articulated to encourage change on both a personal and institutional level. Participants will leave with a better understanding of the answer to the question: How will I know that I am succeeding and making a difference?

Length: 2 hours
