Become a Facilitator for It's Time to Talk Forums on Race

It's Time to Talk Forums on Race is a dynamic event that expands understanding of differences through personal dialogue among members of different races, with the ultimate goal of making a commitment to eliminate racism. Last year, over 1,100 racially diverse civic leaders - from business, education, government, the arts, faith communities and community service - came together to talk about racism and commit to action.

Attendees will be inspired key note speaker Valarie Kaur then engage in a professionally facilitated dialogue on improving race relations. You can be one of these important people providing the opportunity for courageous conversations on race and racism to take place.

In addition to being a critical part of the 7th annual It's Time to Talk Forums on Race event, our trained Racial Justice Facilitators are presented with opportunities throughout the year as they arise.

Time Commitment:

  • Attend a 4 hour training/interview session
  • Attend a 2 hour Facilitation Clinic
  • Be at the Minneapolis Convention Center from 10 a.m. to 2:30 p.m. on Tuesday, November 10, 2009

Eliminating racism is a core value of the YWCA of Minneapolis, which puts its mission into action through policy development, programming and outreach. Now more than ever our community must continue courageous conversations on race and racism.

Never doubt that a small group of thoughtful, committed citizens can change the world; indeed, it's the only thing that ever has.
